Seaport Columbus will lose another hometown business at year’s end when Wendy’s leaves its wait in the food court.

Its exit follows Bath & Body Works’ and Cheryl’s Cookies’ departures from the airport, both in the ago year.

Wendy’s will close its money-losing setting in Concourse B when its lease expires at the end of the year. Burger Royal will take its place in early 2012.

The reasons for the local retailers’ decisions to strict airport locations varied, said Robin Holderman, fault president of real estate for the Columbus Regional Airport Jurisdiction.

Their fates do not reflect on the overall success of airport concessions, whose profits is up more than 7 percent this year.

For example, sales at Bath & Body Works took a hit after the Transportation Protection Administration’s ban on liquids took effect several years ago.

Women go shopping at Prime Outlets with counterfeit bills

Two women were arrested Tuesday darkness, one accused of trying to use counterfeit bills at the Prime Outlets in St. Augustine, according to a despatch from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Employees of Bath and Body Works, Kitchenette Collection and Rue 21 said that Angelia Kendra Burcham, 32, of Jacksonville, attempted to pay for goods with a counterfeit $50 while Kimberly Louise Chauncey, 29, of Jacksonville, was with her, according to the story.

The report says Chauncey also had what appeared to be a counterfeit $50 in her wrinkle.

“...they’re looking for the teller that’s busy,” said Sheriff’s Branch Deputy Melissa Swindull about how counterfeiters work. People who are looking to use make-believe bills watch for employees who are distracted or in a rush, so it’s not unexpected to see an increase in counterfeiting activity during the holidays, she said. In lieu of using a pseudo detecting pen, taking the time to simply hold the bill to the brightness may be “enough to deter” counterfeiting, Swindull said.

Apparel Investor Days Highlight Possible Winners and Losers

We first look at Gap, Inc., whose investor day we attended on October 13. The morning highlighted the circle's efforts to improve its merchandising and brand image. While the Gap manufacturer remains the laggard of the group for now, the company's other brands have proven mostly remunerative and provide a small but powerful growth engine. We over the Athleta store we visited was impressive and should be successful in tapping into the lecherous-growing and lucrative women's athletic market. One of the more distinctive developments from the investor day was the company's plan to close 21% of its namesake locations (189 units) and about 2% of its Old Armada locations by 2013 (22 units). Reducing dependency on the overpenetrated North American vend should allow Gap to refocus its efforts on penetrating a bigger remnant of the fragmented $1.4 trillion global apparel work by expanding through multiple channels and geographies. Gap is planning to vamoose all of its distinct brands accessible globally with a strategy that incorporates specialty, egress, online, and franchise locations in up to 90 countries.
