SANTA CRUZ -- People with arthritis can now tap the benefits of tai chi, a Chinese pugnacious art designed to strengthen the body and relax the mind.
The disburden classes, called "Tai Chi for Arthritis," are supported by a grant from the Arthritis Bottom and taught by instructors from the Santa Cruz Integrative Nostrum and Chi Center, 21511-B E. Cliff Drive. Classes are held Monday and Wednesday and run in six-week blocks.
The most up to date rotation will run through Nov. 21.
The instructors, Adrianna Gonzales and Willow Brown, licensed acupuncturists, trained with the Arthritis Fundamental to teach tai chi for people with arthritis.
Tai chi is the popular name for taijichun, translated as "superb ultimate fist." Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician in Australia, built the program on a modification of the Sun make of tai chi.
"The movements are just a little more gentle and the emphasis is on staying within your series of motion," Brown said. "You are working within your comfort zone to gently term and open the joints within the body."
Chi-Hi ready for sectional final against Wausau East
With Thursday’s 2-0 win over Wausau West in a WIAA Disagreement 1 sectional semifinal, the Chi-Hi boys soccer team knows they only have one more spirited to go to grab a state berth.
They also know they don’t have very much time to study for Saturday’s opponent, Wausau East.
“We did as much as you can do in a day,” Chi-Hi prompt Ben Goeman said. “So we know who their scorers are, we skilled in who their go-to guy are.”
East finished the regular season in third place behind Stevens Stress and Wausau West in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with an 8-4 talk record.
Since losing back-to-back 2-1 conference games to Stevens Apt and Wisconsin Rapids, the Lumberjacks have won four games in a row, including their last two in the playoffs over Big Rivers Talk opponents River Falls and Hudson.
“They’re pretty correspond to to Wausau West, they’re the same caliber team,” Goeman said. “They played twice this year (Wausau East and Wausau West) and they split games so we tender-hearted of know what we’re up against and we’re as prepared as you can get in a day.”

Those of us who are pet boomers and were in acme kind or college during the Vietnam War (called the American War in Vietnam) have enthusiastic memories of Saigon. Following the end of the war in 1975, America and Vietnam did not pick up where one left off relations until the mid-1990's.
