Circle to the ‘Stop the Machine: Create a New World’ folks encamped on Pennsylvania Avenue fitting by the Pershing memorial (‘Black Jack’ Pershing was executive for the atrocities in the Philippines during the Spanish American War and then led the US Army into the butchery of Fabulous War I).  Later in the day we shouted in front of the White House (“Whose domicile? The People’s House!”), on its north side by Lafayette Balanced where Andrew Jackson, the Indian killer of the $20 bill, poses ridiculously on a horse.

The political entity’s capital glorifies its militarists, its conquerors.  We were auspicious though, because that morning two dozen beautiful women had formed a drumming circumnavigate at McPherson Square and were beating out complex and gripping rhythms with all their tenderness, they were the Batala World drummers.  Nothing could have settled us change one's mind, lifting our spirits, strengthening our determination, and lightening our way.  From forefront completely to foot our bones carried their deep vibrations through the day.

Boy's "Mentor" Busted For Videotaped Punishment

OCTOBER 5--A Florida man who recently videotaped himself taxing a young boy for “acting up” at school was arrested last week on a felony lady cruelty rap, according to police .

Orlando cops busted Devery Broox after erudition about the video via a tip originally received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A police account describes the 25-year-old Broox as a “mentor” of the seven-year-old boy, with whom he has “no familial relationship.”

While the boy initially claimed that marks and scars on his legs were caused by a bicycle accessary, he later “disclosed that Devery ‘whips’ him ‘all the be that as it may.’” The child told cops that “Devery made him unburden the story about the bicycle because ‘he don’t wanna go to jail.’”

When questioned by police, Broox admitted posting the video on YouTube and Tumblr, but claimed that the off-camera beating was “staged.” When officers disclosed that the young man said he was beaten by Broox, the suspect “repeated several times that he will take fault for his actions,” adding that he regretted putting the video online.

A worldwide look at the ritual of male hair grooming

Images from "The Barbershop Enlist," a photo journal of black-and-white photos of barbers and barbershops, infatuated by Montclair artist/photographer Jay Seldin on his photo journeys throughout the the world at large, are on view, by appointment only, at the Digital Edge Gallery, the photographer's studio gallery at 44 Melrose Burden.
