Fashion Week founder, Miyoshi Anderson, raises bar in 2nd year
"I see things active even smoother this year," said executive director and fail Miyoshi Anderson. "The first year was laying the groundwork, and that foundation built a really solid foundation."
Ms. Anderson, an actress and scale model whose career spans more than a decade, launched Pittsburgh Make Week with former Post-Gazette fashion editor LaMont Jones to farm more local fashion gigs so aspiring designers, models and stylists wouldn't have to quit Pittsburgh to have prosperous careers.
"When I first began modeling, I worked a lot, and I identify over the years the economy has taken a hit. ... Less and less work just became elbow," she said.
In its first undertaking last fall, Pittsburgh Fashion Week attracted about 2,000 guests and provided opportunities for restricted models to walk the runway, stylists to prep them and volunteers to get a behind-the-scenes look at the opus of a fashion show.
"Overall, my vision was [carried out] the way I saw it. I really didn't recall what to expect with attendance."
