More than 30 examples of Spanish men’s and women’s clothing and accessories will show alongside stunning tableaus, ranging from everyday attire to more vivid formal wear.
The exhibition will include pieces donated by the likes of Daphne Guinness , The Spanish Office of Culture, as well as jewelry and clothing from Sr. Sorolla’s own collecting, dating as far back as a century ago when he was comissioned by The Hispanic Society of America to apply depictions of rural life in Spain. A brocaded Valencian silk gown, alloy dress, and several embellished matador costumes worn by toreadors of note are a few of the featured pieces.
