Thursday review: Fargo's Sephora all about expectations

FARGO – Fargo is not unequivocally Paris.

So I probably should have lowered my expectations upon my first visit to the Sephora cache inside JC Penney at West Acres after returning from my honeymoon in the European capitol this summer.

The commensurability of the French cosmetics giant’s flagship store to an in-cache Midwest makeup shop might not necessarily be fair, but for knockout product hounds everywhere it might be understandable.

The Paris Sephora on the megalopolis’s prestigious Champs-Elysees provided hundreds – if not thousands – of eye shadows as far as the eyes could see and perfumes as far as the nose could stench. My husband patiently waited as I tried countless conspirator lipsticks.

I hummed and hawed about whether to buy a particular Chanel modicum of red-orange I’d describe as persimmon. I decided against it, seriously concerned whether the tube would put my bag over the 50-pound limit on the plane ride placid.

Non-buyer’s remorse taunted me the rest of the trip, and once in Fargo I was unflinching to find that shade at my home-town Sephora.
