I'm shoddy with nail polish, at least on my fingernails. I might be ambidextrous enough to use chopsticks with either hand, but nail clippers or a nail-polish skirmish -- not so good. That said, Palisade (hee hee, a defensive parry) is applied with a thin brush like eye liner, and applying the purple environment, to a certain extent, has some of the same issues as using nail polish.

Palisade can't be neutral slapped on, unless you're also steady enough to do that with polish. The line you draw with it is the type that will peel off, and if you didn't have enough of the magic medium to be visible, and you've painted it where you don't desire it, you'll have an annoying surprise when you pull it off. So, my first try at tipping my nails, a la a french manicure: not so ooh la la.

But the pretty pickle was in my execution, not the concept. The not-quite-accurate line I drew created a sudden delineation when peeled off; it just wasn't exactly along the curve of my nail. With the next one, I took things a inconsiderable slower, painted it on more heavily and pulled a reasonably grave swath of the medium out farther past my cuticles to earn a pull-tab.
