Riverside War Memorial Monument Gets Fresh Start

Riverside's Planet War II monument was given a freshly-updated look recently, thanks to the implacable and thoughtful work of the East Providence Battle Example Foundation (EPBMF). Where  skateboard tear and spray-painted swastikas once sullied the cogitative sit, now sits polished new fixtures agains the East Bay Bike Trail.

To members of the EPBMF, the work of caring for the city's monuments and the memories of the heroes they exalt are one in the same. On Oct. 10, John Rebello continued the non-profit's calling by cleaning the Civil War memorial near City Classroom on Taunton Ave. The list of accomplishments extends to the gates of Penetrate Field, as well. Two bronze plaques listed at the athletic complex apotheosize some 2,000 individuals who died in the war.

In the case of Riverside's commemoration, masonry work, lighting replacement, landscaping and iron effort have been completed to properly honor America's Greatest Siring.

The Riverside Monument's improvements cost a total of $3,000, dough raised through donations. For the organization's principal organizer, Glenn Maciel, this in truth is one that produces a desire for gratitude and transparency.

The video shows several women standing calmly as the control unroll and surround them with a bright orange net. Once the women are corralled, a deathly white-shirted police officer walks up to the group and sprays them all in the mug with pepper spray. He then walks away.

Over the next couple days, over a million people watched that video on YouTube as the Grip Wall Street movement spread to hundreds of cities around the delighted. Far from fearful, protesters responded with renewed vigor, joining the anti-corporate protests in the thousands.

The mace-wielding madwoman was identified as NYPD Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna, who, if former incidents of guard brutality are any indication, will receive no consequence.

Makeup artists putting a face on terror

How do about 100 people alter a few barns in the fairgrounds into a Halloween horror scene?

It starts at 5 p.m., two hours before the venue opens, the first actors get to and prepare for makeup and costumes before they get into character. Five makeup artists in two trailers exertion on 65 actors from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

A peek propitious one of the trailers on a recent night reveals the tools for creating phantom — 2 gallon jugs of liquid blood makeup, a cosmetic jar of “Ben Nye Thick Blood,” dismembered corps parts made of latex with drips of red, a skin-tone silicon lineaments mask with subtle touches of blood and several 6-airbrush carousels for spraying on foundation colors, such as grayish silver and shades of blue along with aquacolor makeup that glows in the abstruse. Spatters of fake blood lie across the floor and on chairs in the trailer from early previously to makeup sessions.

By 6 p.m. makeup artists Melissa Coulter, trained in valued effects, and Paige Neville, who works as a makeup artist at townsperson theaters, are starting to spray foundation on two actors, one of whom is a chain-saw wielding comic; the other, a zombie.
