MIRI: All the seven branches of the Sarawak Step by step Democratic Party (SPDP) in Marudi constituency yesterday disassociated themselves from the reception, and formed the Barisan Nasional (BN) Committee N66 Marudi.
The move was in retaliation to the sacking of Marudi assemblyman, Datuk Sylvester Entri from SPDP on Nov 25.
“This is to show that we still need to be in the Barisan Nasional and work closely with the government. We will perpetuate the former line up in the party in all the seven branches, except those who wish not to weld us,” said Entri to reporters after the BN meet-the-people seating at the Dewan Masyarakat of Beluru, Bakong yesterday.
He added that the persistence of forming the BN Committee in all these branches was to ensure continuity of the management’s development projects for the people in the constituency.
Some 800 hardcore supporters of Entri attended the conversation in a show of support for him.
They were from Marudi, Beluru, Nabor, Jegan Hilir, Jegan Ulu, Teruking and Pengalayan. The branches have some 3,000 registered soir members.
