Ouch. My aspect hurts. I know, it’s killing you too — oldest frolic in the book. But it’s no joke: one occupational hazard of testing peel-care products is overdosing on irritants. Chemicals can get under your abrade, and even natural substances — essential oils, for archetype — can wreak havoc: lavender’s aroma can be therapeutical and calming, but don’t ply your face with lavender oil. Ditto minty or citrusy oils and anything acidic, unless buried in a still formula. Hypoallergenics can also be problematic. Many contain potential endocrine disrupters and other rancid components. Besides, allergies are as varied as fingerprints; there’s no one-evaluate-fits-all solution to irritated skin.

What to do?

I looked in the looking-glass yesterday and the person that looked back at me was 20 years older than I remembered. 

This frightened me so much that I very nearly teleported to the Blue Mercury skin care accumulate in Hinsdale. I hoped they would have a miracle cream to help me instantly look like I’m 29. I knew they carried a fancy scrape care line I liked, so it was an easy choice—solicit for time to stand still, or pay for it.

The stuff I had been using was supposed to rub off layers of old skin cells and revitalize my skin. The damage in the logic—underneath the old layers of skin is more old skin. The arche-dermo-sound expedition uncovered some beer damage I did in the 90’s and a few sunspots from a summer in Greece. That charge me 150 bucks. I didn’t know if I needed a facelift, a forklift, or a yard goods surgeon with a knife and fork. 

As I walked in, the salesperson greeted me fondly—I dismissed her with a smile. She was very young and I couldn’t look her in the eye for cowardice of either being seduced by the promise of her youthful glow, or overcome by the nervous debit card in my wallet (which has been known to swipe itself).
