I can’t get that wonderful skimpy lay bare-midriff thingie from Prada’s Spring 2012 collection out of my lead.

Okay, it’s technically called a bandeau top. And, if you followed Prada’s “Women and Car Engines” runway show at Milan’s Approach Week, you can’t help but think that Miuccia Prada wanted to give us ladies a bra-less lift during this tough economy.

Yes, that bandeau top – essentially a untied-fitting elasticized chest-band – somehow manages to invoke both the expansive and contractive components of the economic cycle.

Harkening back to the fifties and that era’s animal magnetism with midriff fashion, those tops graced the chests of Hollywood starlets. They were also understandable with pre-teens who naturally sported them without bras. As worn without inauguration garments by Prada’s runway models, these new tops, while being tiny, advertise a thoughts for economic contraction by virtue of their appeal to those who wish to balance unfettered.

Prada First-Half Profit Jumps 74% on New Stores, Asia Growth

Sept. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Prada SpA, the Italian self-indulgence goods maker that had Hong Kong’s biggest initial business offering this year, boosted first-half profit 74 percent as it opened more stores and behest in Asia surged.

Net income rose to 179.5 million euros ($245 million) in the six months through July from 103 million euros a year earlier, the Milan-based fellowship said in a Hong Kong stock exchange filing yesterday.
